Our nurturing small group retreat days are set at one of our favourite places: a boutique studio in a stunning rural setting outside Chelmsford. Practices will be supremely gentle and rooted in mindfulness, guided relaxation and nature awareness, including silent walks into the surrounding countryside. Curious beginners to retreats and mindfulness are warmly welcome.
We have had the pleasure of running retreats at the stunning Retreat Farm, Little Baddow for the last 15 years and love returning to this special dedicated meditation and wellbeing studio surrounded by open countryside yet a 20-minute drive from Chelmsford.
This small group day retreat will be a chance to pause and connect with both yourself and the surrounding natural world, offering a safe space to rest and refresh at the start of a new year. Max just ten students; snacks provided. Please bring your own vegetarian lunch.
We will experience varied mindfulness and relaxation practices, both in movement and in stillness. These may include: lying down body scans, sense meditations, deep guided relaxation (yoga nidra), Restorative Yoga and very gentle mindful movement.
Nature appreciation will be cultivated by bringing awareness to our sensory experience (which may include gentle clucking sounds from the roaming chickens!) and through silent personal walks from the door.
Different options for posture always offered and chairs will be available. You should be able to get on and off the floor.
All periods of practice will be presented in an accessible, non-dogmatic way and will be sprinkled with poetry and (hopefully!) inspiring readings. The countryside around the venue, which is a dedicated studio space fo meditation and yoga, is quiet and rolling. There’s a blissful absence of road noise.
Tea and healthy - and almost healthy! - snacks will be provided during the long lunch break, which will be offered as an integral part of the day.
As we take exclusive hire of the venue, with its main studio and separate smaller rooms, there is plenty of space to spread out, rest and relax during the long lunch period and at other break times.
The retreat is suitable for both completely newcomers to meditation and relaxation, and for those with experience looking to deepen practice. Either way, the day is designed as a way to come out of our heads, into our bodies; space to rest, reflect and slow down (both physically and mentally) and offer deep appreciation and care for ourselves.
